Pearls and Dreams

I grow more distant everyday

From this world of pearls and dreams

And shadows and sunsets, sparkling lights

From carnivals, cities, peaches and cream

Twilight and buttercups, the northern stars

Rainy days in town, the strange, black cars

And the fragrant grass, on which I tread

The hollow in the oak tree, the fruit picking trips

The words that linger, felt yet unsaid

But every time, I look to my right

Those fairy lights still glow

Hanging on wires mid day and night

Shining in the moonbeam, soft and slow
