The tower stood tall amidst an angry mess of dark clouds and the stench of feigned justice. Often the city folk fooled themselves into believing that all was well and that each night their children would sleep safe in their beds. Perhaps the hope this idealism provided kept their fears at bay. The city was free from the forces of evil.

But freedom is an illusion. It always comes at a price.
